Johnsons BirthI was due 14th Feb 07 but my darling baby still hadnt shown any signs of comming 2wks later so when i was 17days over i was induced - much to my disappointment as i wanted him to come naturally.
I was given a tablet (pessery?(sp)) at around 7pm but had no "signs" till the early hours when i had period type cramps - nothing a painkiller didnt ease.
Around 6am i asked for another painkiller and i was given another tablet as i wasnt progressing. By 9am i was having contractions and they wer getting stronger and stronger but i found using the tens machine really helped with these. I was in alot of pain as my baby was back to back and the tens machine wasnt helping so i was given pethidine around 3pm.
By 6pm i was gagging for another pethidine as the pain was extreemly harsh by now and i think i was about 4 or 5cms by then - he was still back to back. I was led to the delivery suite and promised pethidine soon....
9pm came and after crying and keeping on the whole time i was finally given another shot of pethidine - i felt so much better, the pain was making me tense and i really wasnt happy, but after the pethidine i could relax and focus more and enjoy the labour (i wanted to know what was going on but with the pain i didnt feel in control and it was scarey)
My baby started to turn but still wasnt in the right position and due to the pain (i was 9cms by this time) and the fact they didnt expect him to turn i was given a spinal then an epidural straight after. 3hrs later after hard pushing, the midwife trying to turn my baby from up inside me with her hand (thank god for that epidural!) a suction cap and being cut my baby finally arrived a healthy 7lb 2.5oz @ 19days late 3.27am
Theres only 2 real things i was unhappy about with my labour, 1 was being induced and 2 was when i was promised several times pethidine but never given it - i didnt think that was fair and made me panic which didnt help on top of the pain and the stress my body and myself were going thru being in labour
