2 c sections... do i go for a third???with my first child I had an emergency c section due to his cord strangling him it was round his neck twice!!
then my second child was born 10 months later and I chose then to go for an elective c section due to already being overweight and already having a really nasty scar.
It was a good job I had one at the time as the previous surgeon had managed to attach my uterus to my bladder which they had to seperate and then check it worked, plus he had made a right mess up of my scar, which luckily my really kind second surgeon fixed up for me.
so my decision this time is wether to go for another c section or not,
I have my doubts as since having my sons to getting to now I have lost 4 stone but it was hard and I beleive harder because of the sections, so selfishly dont want another so it might be easier for me to get my figure back quicker....
but on the other hand I have heard it will be safer for the baby if I have another section and I am also worried that somethign similar with body parts being where they shouldnt be might happen again!!!
help would be much appreciated
thanks

Hi emma,
Sounds to me like it was lucky you had the second section to sort everything out!!
I had a vbac with my second, after having an emergancy section the first time. I know some people do go for a natural birth after having 2 or even 3 sections, but of course its usually down to the hospital and consultant. I got a lot of info from www.vbac.co.uk (you can see my birth stories on there too!) If it is something you want to try, the best thing you can do is ask about being allowed to straight off (not that drs can insist on anything - it is all your choice - just they dont let on about that though!)
Personally, i found a natural birth much much better, i couldnt believe how healthy i felt after in comparison to a c-sect.
You have a much greater chance at a succesful vbac if you have experienced labour - and you said you did labour with your first, so this is a good start.
When do you see a consultant emma?

ooh was wondering what vbac meant!!! learn somethign new everyday and all that lol
I see a midwife next week, and then a scan to see how far I am a few days after, I spoke to the doc breifly about my options but she wasnt really much help, she said I could try and have the babgy naturally but there could be complications, but there COULD be complications with anything so that didnt really help much!!!
will the midwife be more helpful do you think???

I would have thought so yes, Drs arnt the experts i guess, so i would listen to your m/w!
I found everyone to be very supportive of my decision to go natural, drs, m/w etc etc. The only problem ihad was that i wanted an active birth, but they like to monitoir you all the time because of complications, so you cnt move around much. Having said that, my labour was so quick once i got to hospital i didnt have chance to move around!
(I TOOK RASBERRY LEAF FROM 36 WEEKS, WHICH IM SURE HELPPED TOO!)
I seemed to have a lot of staff in there with me, and at 1 point i think i was told that i might have tyo have a section, but as i said, it was all so quick, they just chose to go ahead and get him out without using the sunroof!! I ended up having a vontousse to speed things up, as he was getting distressed.

thanks for that.
it is a scary decision to make and I wanna make sure im doing it for the right reasons as at the moment I feel a bit selfish for doing it naturally when it would probably be easier for everyone to have another op.
I will chat to the midwife when i see her next week and see what she thinks but as you say they can only advise not make the decision for you!!!

omg the midwife was rubbish.... she was only interested in talking about breast feeding which i told her a million times i would be doing anyway. she didnt answer my question on section or not, said the hospital would talk to me about it but other than a scan and to have the baby I dont plan on spending much time in hospital!!!

thats really bad!!
i think all i talked to my m/w about was the impending vbac or elective situation!
when do you go to hospital to see someone?
i was seen around 15 weeks, then again much later when i was 30 something weeks i think. I did a study too about pregnancy, care and birth after c-sect, and i was given access to a hell of a lot of statistical info to 'help me which to choose' (even though i had already decided). I will have a search in the bowels of my pc, and see if i can get the link for you if its still active.

thanks for all your help!!
I have now had my 1st scan and am only 9 weeks!!! so forever to decide really. I got another dating scan in a few weeks, just to check its right cause the bubba was tiny, and they also pre booked my 20 week scan too and I'm pretty sure a consultant appointment is attached to this scan date so hopefully the consultant will be a bit more helpful!
I still havent decided totally, but im kinda leaning toward the c section, just cause it will be easier for everyone else, altho for myself I would like to have a natural birth or at least try.... I did say I was still undecided lol

9 weeks - you have all the time in the world to think it through, so just chill for now!
All i will say is hat loking at what is easier for everyone else, isnt always the best and easiest option for you - but that is of course with my 2 different experiences in mind - if i had decided to be easy i would have given them a time and date he was coming, but i chose vbac, and had a uch better exoerience for it - but again, that is just me. Im sorry i havent looked for those stats yet - i dont have much chance at weekends - i will get on it.....

Hi Emma,
Ive just had a look trough all my posts on another forum going back when i was pregnant, and have found the stuff i mentioned.
I guess the info is viewable to everyone, as i didnt have to put my id number in. The url is http://134.36.36.39/diamond/information.html if you do find you cant access it my id number is 11084
Its probebly different info than i had, because the study is finnished. Might help anyway.
It was weird looking for the thread i started about it - i ended up reading all this stuff i had forgotten about my pregnancy!
